There is both an offline and online process for a business or law enforcement to verify your Florida Smart ID.

Florida Smart ID offers an offline verification process allowing the verifier to view data from the owner’s last update. Retailers who will be verifying age will use the offline verification process, which does not require internet access. For law enforcement, Florida Smart ID will provide an online verification process allowing law enforcement to verify the information online. If the law enforcement device does not have internet access, they can still see the information available offline with a “Last Updated” timestamp.

As a backup, law enforcement personnel can use the physical driver license, which drivers will still be required to carry, to verify the driver’s identity.
