License Plates & Registration

Renew or Replace Your Registration

General Information

Vehicles must have a valid registration to operate on Florida roads. Customers may renew their vehicle or vessel for a period of one to two years and may renew a registration up to three months in advance of the registration expiration. Vehicle or vessel registrations expire at midnight on the first owner’s birth date unless the owner is a business. Heavy truck registration information can be found here.

The registration decal must be placed in the square space provided in the upper right-hand corner of the Florida license plate.

Effective July 1, 2022, individuals who have registration stops associated with toll violations are prohibited from renewing their registration or replacing their license plates until satisfying toll violations.

Drivers who are new to Florida must register and title their vehicle in the state of Florida within 30 days of the owner either becoming employed, placing children in public school or establishing residency in Florida.
