The Florida Highway Patrol Academy is located at 75 College Dr. in Havana Florida. The training is conducted in a paramilitary format with strict attention to detail. We emphasize teamwork, ethical decision making and professionalism. Our training methods develop personal strength, character, maturity, self-confidence and leadership skills. The Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy curriculum exceeds Florida Department of Law Enforcement standards.
Florida Highway Patrol
The Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence (BCII) is led by a Bureau Commander that holds the rank of Major. The Bureau Commander serves as the Florida Highway Patrol’s Chief Investigator. BCII is a component of the agency’s Special Services Command.
The Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) consists of specially trained troopers designated as felony officers and canine handlers. These troopers are strategically assigned throughout the state to patrol the interstate system and other highways in order to interdict criminal activity.
The goals and objectives of the Office of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement are accomplished through data driven enforcement and education programs. Troopers conduct driver/vehicle safety inspections; post-crash inspections; weight, size and registration enforcement; compliance investigations; new entrant safety audits; hazardous materials carrier assessments; traffic enforcement; drug interdiction and public awareness education.
