2020 Civilian of the Quarter




January through March | Mrs. Lisa Thompson

Congratulations to Mrs. Lisa Thompson for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from January through March 2020.

During this quarter, Thompson excelled and led the state in evidence destructions, by destroying over 334 percent of the number of items collected in 2019 that were not of evidentiary value within your troop. Thompson continues to research cases and maintain an organized evidence room. In addition, Thompson has been recognized by the Florida Highway Patrol’s Assistant Statewide Evidence Coordinator for her diligent performance.

Thompson is commended for her exceptional job performance and her willingness to go above and beyond her job duties. Thompson’s actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.


April through June | Mr. Mark Miller

Congratulations to Mr. Mark Miller for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian of the Quarter from April through June 2020.

During this quarter, Miller’s willingness to volunteer for additional assignments outside of evidence duties to include repair and filling the propane tanks for the emergency generator, trimming trees around the parking lot, and using his personal pressure washer to clean the station brick walls, entryway, and walkways around the building. Miller completed these tasks in the summer heat and while maintaining his normal workload as an evidence custodian.

Miller is commended for his exceptional job performance, hard work, and his willingness to go above and beyond his job duties. Miller’s actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.


July through September | Ms. Delaina Bruce

Congratulations to Ms. Delaina Bruce for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from July through September 2020.

During this quarter, Bruce once again excelled, taking on additional duties to ensure a coordinated effort during Troop H’s weapons transition. Bruce attended range qualifications and documented the serial numbers of weapons that were turned in and those that were issued. This assisted the firearms instructors with expediting training to all members.

In addition, Bruce scheduled the radar, laser, and speedometer calibrations for her troop. Working with the district supervisors, Bruce made sure members reported for their scheduled calibrations, keeping the troop in compliance with policy as it relates to equipment requirements.

Bruce is commended for her exceptional job performance and her willingness to go above and beyond her job duties. Bruce’s actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.


October through December | Mr. Scott Bridges

Congratulations to Mr. Scott Bridges for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from October through December 2020.

During this quarter Bridges continued to ensure that new Troopers reporting to Troop D understood SmartEvidence and the process required for submissions of evidence.  Bridges also managed the Orlando Evidence Property Room while the assigned Evidence Property Custodian was unavailable.

In addition, Bridges assisted with a Special Audit of the Orlando EPR and continued to train the Lieutenants on the EPR procedures, so that they could assist with the processing of evidence at the Orlando station. This was completed all while managing the three EPR facilities, ensuring that submissions to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s lab in Orlando were submitted in a timely manner, and that items were returned and processed back into the appropriate EPR.
