2025 Dispatcher of the Quarter

January through March | SLED Lisa Posey, SLED Wesley McCann, and SLED Abbigail Vienneau

Congratulations to State Law Enforcement Dispatcher (SLED) Lisa Posey, SLED Wesley McCann, and SLED Abbigail Vienneau for being selected as the corecipients of the Florida Highway Patrol State Law Enforcement Dispatcher of the Quarter award from January through March 2025.

On February 7, 2025, just after 3AM, the JRCC received a Flock LPR hit notification on a white Jeep Compass that was linked to a double homicide. The jeep was traveling westbound along Interstate 10 from Mile Marker 296 in western Suwannee County. JRCC SLED Posey quickly broadcasted the information to in-service state law enforcement in that area. Under the supervision of JRCC SLED McCann, JRCC SLED trainee Vienneau confirmed with the Tallahassee Regional Communication Center (TRCC) that a state Agricultural Officer was in the area to assist responding units. JRCC SLED Aryanna Witherspoon also received a call from a Leon County Deputy Sheriff, reporting that the suspect had earlier shot four individuals at a convenience store just off Interstate 10, killing two. At 3:27 AM, Agricultural Officer H. Preston spotted the vehicle at Mile Marker 280.

Troopers soon intercepted the suspect and gave chase, with the suspect firing at troopers. The suspect eventually crashed into a ditch in Suwannee County and fled on foot into the woods. As the suspect fled, he shot at police and evaded capture into the wooded area. In the shooting, both a deputy sheriff and a K9 officer were injured. Troopers and local police immediately provided emergency assistance to the deputy sheriff and canine. SLED Posey requested additional support, including K9 units and SWAT for tracking the suspect. A total of 77 state law enforcement units responded, including personnel from various FHP troops and local sheriff’s offices. Just after 8:30 AM, the suspect was located and resisted arrest, resulting him being incapacitated by gunfire, and later succumbing to his injuries.
