Deputy Director, Executive Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Joseph C. “Cory” Harrison is the Deputy Director, Office of Executive Officer to the Colonel. In support of the FHP Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel Harrison is responsible for Lt. Colonel Joseph Harrisonthe oversight of FHP Administration, Personnel, Budget, Fleet, Technology, Aviation and the Office of Professional Compliance as well as many other duties.

Lieutenant Colonel Harrison began his law enforcement career as a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy before joining the Florida Highway Patrol. Lieutenant Colonel Harrison graduated from the Florida Highway Patrol’s 104th Recruit Class in 2003. He was assigned to the Troop A-Crestview District from the Florida Highway Patrol Academy. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Panama City district in the Panhandle of Florida. Lieutenant Colonel Harrison was later promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Pensacola District. Lieutenant Colonel Harrison then transitioned to the Patrol’s Homeland Security Coordinator within the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence. Lieutenant Colonel Harrison was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to General Headquarters as the Patrol’s Emergency Management Coordinator. He was later promoted to the rank of Major, overseeing the Bureau of Law Enforcement Operations, and serving as FHP’s Executive Officer. In that role, he was responsible for the statewide business and administrative functions of Division personnel. Lieutenant Colonel Harrison most recently served as the Chief of Special Services, where he oversaw FHP’s Training Academy, Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence, Regional Communications Centers, Emergency Management, and many other duties appropriate to the rank of Chief.

Lieutenant Colonel Harrison has also served in several capacities, including being a longtime member of FHP’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, a Field Training Lieutenant, the Statewide FHP Auxiliary Coordinator, the Statewide FHP Peer Support Coordinator, and a member of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force. He holds the office of 1st Vice President for the State Law Enforcement Chiefs Association (SLECA).

Lieutenant Colonel Harrison holds an Associate of Arts degree from Chipola College and is a graduate of FHP’s Leadership Academy, FHP’s Leadership in Police Organizations, and FDLE’s Senior Leadership Program.
