Press Instructions and Logistics for Msgt. Daniel Hinton’s Memorial Events

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol honors the life and career of Master Sgt. Daniel Hinton. Instructions for credentialed press detailed below and site maps are attached for reference.


Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Law enforcement procession to depart funeral home at 9:00 a.m.

Media staging for procession will be designated area at Edison Mall corner of Solomon Blvd and East Mall Drive (Media site 1).

Solomon Boulevard to Colonial Boulevard
Colonial Boulevard to Metro Parkway
Metro Parkway to Michael G. Rippe Parkway
Michael G. Rippe Parkway to Alico Road
Alico Road to Three Oaks Parkway
Three Oaks Parkway to Estero Parkway
Estero Parkway to Ben Hill Griffin Parkway
Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Everblades Parkway (North entrance)

 Expected family lead car arrival to Hertz Arena: between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m.

Media staging for procession arrival to Hertz Arena will be at southeast corner of arena by front entrance (Media site 2).


Funeral Services:

Wednesday, February 27, 2019, ceremony to start at 12:00 p.m. sharp.
Hertz Arena, 1100 Everblades Pkwy, Estero, FL 33928

Parking: Arrive via the south entrance to Hertz Arena before 11:00 a.m. using south Everblades Parkway entrance to Hertz Arena from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. Credentialed media should park near NBC 2 satellite truck staging on southwest corner of arena (Media parking as labeled on map).

During ceremony: NBC 2 pool camera only permitted on floor/stage (Media site 3). All other credentialed media required to report on 3rd floor of arena in press box. Media credentials required for entrance. No flash photography permitted during event out of respect for the family.

Conclusion of ceremony: An outside ceremony consisting of the honor guard flag presentation, 21-gun salute, flyover and last call will take place following the inside ceremony on the south grass lot located between the arena and Miramar Outlet Lake. Media staging will be located on the southwest corner (Media site 4).

Weather contingency plan: The entire funeral ceremony will take place inside Hertz Arena.
