Trooper Craig Gaines died in the line of duty as a result of a medical complication from an injury suffered in the line of duty on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Trooper Gaines served the citizens of Florida, with the Florida Highway Patrol, for more than seventeen years. He was in the 115th Recruit Class in Tallahassee. Trooper Gaines began his law enforcement career with the Havana Police Department and later joined the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. He also served in the U.S. Navy prior to his law enforcement career.
