K-9 Drake began his career with the Florida Highway Patrol in December of 2009 and was assigned to Trooper Robert Ivey. They worked on the Florida Turnpike in St. Lucie County.
Drake was retired in May of 2010 and resided with former K-9 Trooper Bobby Boody.
On November 18, 2012, while Trooper Boody was at work, Drake was shot four times during a home burglary of the Trooper’s home and survived for a few days.
On November 23, 2012 K9 Drake was flown to the University of Florida for another emergency surgery where he passed away from the extensive gunshot wounds.
