January through March | Duty Officer Tammy Davis

Congratulations to Duty Officer Tammy Davis for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for January thru March 2010, for her teamwork while dispatching an incident in Troop C.

On March 25, 2010, Trooper Jason Lemery advised the Tampa Bay Regional Communications Center that he was in pursuit of a vehicle with California tags. Trooper Lemery stated that the driver appeared to be armed and requested assistance in apprehending the suspect. Duty Office Tammy Davis immediately took control of Trooper Lemery’s radio channel and proceeded to keep all units up to date on Trooper Lemery’s situation and location. DO Davis also made sure that welfare checks were being completed on all units involved from the participating state agencies.

DO Davis maintained control of communications between all law enforcement agencies and personnel. DO Davis’ efforts while providing support to everyone involved in this incident exemplifies the very best of what our duty officers are expected to handle at any given time. DO Tammy Davis is congratulated for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for January through March 2010.

April through May | Telisa McCray

July through September | Duty Officer John Skinner

Congratulations to Duty Officer John Skinner for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for July thru September 2010, for his efforts while dispatching an incident in Troop C.

On September 10, the Ft. Myers Regional Communications Center transferred a call to the Tampa Bay Regional Communications Center in reference to a possible suicidal subject. Duty Officer John Skinner took the call and spoke with the husband of the subject. Apparently the subject had been texting her husband and had advised him that she would let him know where the car would be located so he could retrieve it. During this time, DO Skinner requested to have the subject’s cell phone pinged as she was texting her husband.

As DO Skinner received updates of the subject it was determined that she was in Pasco County, possibly in the area of the Green Swamp within the Withlacoochee Forrest. DO Skinner then contacted the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission to see if they possibly had an officer within the park. The Forestry Service was also notified to see if they had a park ranger in the area. At 6:08 PM, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office notified DO Skinner that the subject had been located and was safe.

DO Skinner’s efforts while providing support to everyone involved in this incident exemplifies the very best of what our duty officers are expected to handle at any given time. Duty Officer John Skinner is congratulated for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for July through September 2010.

October through December | Duty Officer Danielle Cusick

Congratulations to Duty Officer Danielle Cusick for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for October thru December 2010, for her efforts while dispatching an incident in Troop K.

On October 11, Duty Officer Cusick received a telephone call from a motorcyclist that advised her that he had fallen off his bike and was about to pass out. His motorcycle had gone over an embankment and he was ejected. He stated that his arm was severed and his legs were gone. He was in a ditch somewhere in the Miramar area but could not provide his exact location.

Miramar Fire Rescue was called and maintained on a three way call. DO Cusick managed to keep her composure while keeping the victim alert by asking him questions. Miramar Fire Rescue soon came to the victim’s aid. Fortunately, the victim survived.

DO Cusick’s efforts while providing support to everyone involved in this incident exemplifies the very best of our duty officers ability to handle extreme situations at any given time. DO Cusick is congratulated for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for October through December 2010.
