FHP Celebrates 75th Anniversary at Daytona 500

Group Photo2014 marks the 75th year the Florida Highway Patrol has served the residents and visitors to the state of Florida. Organized in 1939 with 32 patrol officers the Florida Highway Patrol has grown to over 2000 troopers and support personnel always working to keep the highways of Florida safe and secure for the traveling public.

Over the past four decades the Florida Highway Patrol has supported every major racing event at the Daytona International Speedway ensuring the safe and timely arrival and departure of spectators attending the races from all over the world. Group photo with vehiclesDuring the pre-race activities, the patrol showcased several historic patrol vehicles used by troopers over the last 75 years in every area of the state. From the 1940 Ford to the 2014 Dodge Charger these uniquely marked vehicles have been a symbol and reminder to all to drive safely.

We congratulate the Florida Highway Patrol for 75 years of dedicated service protecting all who visit and reside in the Sunshine State.
