Patrol Welcomes 52 New Troopers

On Feb. 7, the 123rd Basic Recruit Class graduated from the Florida Highway Patrol Academy at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the accomplishment that marked the completion of a demanding 30-week training program that prepares recruits for a career as a Florida State Trooper.

FHP Director, Col. David Brierton, congratulated the class and told them to “be a person of character. Seek to live a life of integrity and to encourage it in others…Be an individual who is trusted based on a reputation for integrity and competence.”

Col. Brierton presents Rep. Marti Coley with Certificate of Appreciation for her participation in this event and her support of the FHPBrierton applauded them for choosing law enforcement as their careers.

The graduates and guests welcomed long-time supporter of the FHP, Rep. Marti Coley, who delivered the keynote address during the graduation ceremony.

During the commencement ceremony, FHP honored Recruit Albert Chu with the Executive Director’s award for achieving the highest grade point average at the academy. The Patrol also presented the Director’s award to Recruit Derek Daniels for demonstrating extraordinary courtesy and dedication during the training.
