Harbor Walk Village’s Red, White and Blue Local Hero

Cpl. Fisher with his Boy Scout pack at a Blue Angel event and with area Girl Scouts he has a safety message.Corporal Steve Fisher was selected for the honor based on his volunteerism outside the scope of his regular duties as a traffic homicide investigator for Troop A – Pensacola District.

Although Fisher’s job required many hours of devotion, he still manages to perform countless hours of volunteer service to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) as Cub Master to Cub Scout Pack 419, of the Gulf Coast Council of the BSA. Fisher has served as scout master for the last four years; however his involvement with the BSA began long before that. Fisher was pinned as an Eagle Scout in 1987 and has continued his service to the BSA organization over the last ten years. He volunteers approximately ten hours each week to the BSA and Pack 419 by attending meetings, assisting with the scout members in their endeavors to attain their merit badges in various subjects, thus continuing to promote a positive image and direction for many young people within his community. Fisher spends one or more weekends each month devoted to camping and other outdoor activities with Pack 419 and the Gulf Coast Council of the BSA, he also conducts safety courses for the BSA and Girl Scout Packs along the gulf coast. Considering the workload Fisher is under with his current assignment as a traffic homicide investigator, it is truly a testament to his spirit of volunteerism to which he devotes himself to his duties as a Scout Master for Pack 419 of the BSA. In the words of Fisher, “My day job sometimes gets in the way of my real job as Scout Master”.

Well done, Cpl. Fisher!
