Troop G Motor Squad escorts the Florida Sheriffs Association Richard A. Purdy, Esq. 19th Memorial Motorcycle Ride
The Florida Highway Patrol Troop G Motorcycle Squad escorted motorcycle riders during the Florida Sheriffs Association’s 2012 mid-winter conference. They traveled from the Hyatt Regency, Jacksonville Riverfront to the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch near Live Oak, Fla. After arriving, the group toured the ranch and had lunch with the “ranchers” living there.
The 19th annual memorial motorcycle ride is named in honor of Richard A. Purdy, Esq., who died June 3, 2002. He devoted his entire career as an attorney, either prosecuting the criminals or defending sheriffs and their deputies. Purdy was responsible for starting the motorcycle rides at the sheriffs’ conferences in 1998, and the proceeds from each ride have always been donated to the Florida Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches.
