Florida Highway Patrol Finishes Second at State Attorney’s Office 10th Annual Softball Tournament 2012
On May 6, the Florida Highway Patrol participated in the 10th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Softball Tournament held at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla. Several law enforcement agencies participated in the tournament. The teams included were Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, Glades County Sheriff’s Office, Punta Gorda Police Department, Cape Coral Police Department, Fort Myers Police Department, Naples Police Department, Marco Island Police Department, Clewiston Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the State Attorney’s Office. All proceeds of the tournament benefited the Southwest Florida Chapter of Crime Stoppers.
The FHP team, coached by Lt. Greg Bueno, was undefeated going into the championship game. FHP played the Glades County Sheriff’s team, which won the championship game. FHP placed second in the tournament. Players representing the Florida Highway Patrol team were Capt. Tim Culhane, Lt. Greg Bueno, Lt. James Sellers, Cpl. James Wilmeth and Troopers Gustavo Reyes, Vincent Catani, Nelson Tineo, Richard Verbiest, Albert Gutierrez, and Sean Ellis, as well as former Trooper Ed Pope.
