Lieutenant William Jackson Receives ABCD Award
Lieutenant William Jackson is a 22-year member of the Florida Highway Patrol who is currently assigned to the Bureau of Investigations, Northern Region, in Ocala. Lt. Jackson coordinates the FHP’s participation in Florida’s Statewide Cargo Theft Taskforce, and is known nationwide for his expertise in the arena of cargo theft. Lt. Jackson assisted in the creation of the statewide Cargo Theft Alert system, which utilizes technology to send alerts to law enforcement agencies of cargo thefts via email, fax, etc.
Recently, Lt. Jackson was presented with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty) Award by Bureau of Investigations Chief Leroy Smith. Jackson was lauded for being a dedicated, motivated, and responsible officer who works countless hours to combat cargo theft. He was also recognized for devoting a tremendous amount of time and effort building partnerships to ultimately combat cargo theft through collaborative efforts.
Lt. Jackson maintains the tractors and semi-trailers assigned to FHP’s Cargo Theft fleet, provides cargo theft training to other law enforcement agencies, and serves as the Northeast Florida Director for the Florida Auto Theft Intelligence Unit in addition to his other duties within the Bureau of Investigations.
