FHP Announces New Major to Lead Commercial Vehicle Enforcement in Southern Region
Florida Highway Patrol Director, Col. David Brierton, promoted Terrence Gartner to major and tapped the new major to lead commercial vehicle enforcement operations throughout the southern half of the state, commanding the region that covers Orlando, Fort Myers, Palm Beach and Miami.
Gartner started his career in September 1989 as a member of the Florida Department of Transportation’s Office of Motor Carrier Compliance in West Palm Beach. He earned promotion to sergeant in 1997, when he was stationed in Miami. After four years, he achieved the rank of lieutenant in West Palm Beach. FDOT promoted Gartner captain and assigned him to serve as the regional commander over the West Palm Beach and Miami field offices in 2005. He became a member of the Florida Highway Patrol in July of this year, when the Office of Motor Carrier Compliance transitioned from FDOT to the Patrol. Gartner is a recent graduate of the Leadership in Police Organization Program, which the U.S. Military Academy and the International Association of Chiefs of Police developed.
The promotional ceremony was held at the Florida Highway Patrol academy in Midway. Gartner received his credentials and rank insignia in front of his Leadership in Police Organization classmates.
Congratulations to Major Gartner on your promotion!
