Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Sergeant Recognized

Pictured left to right Lt. Carlton, Sgt. Zanders, Capt. BarrsOn July 28, 2011, Sgt. Larry Zanders of the Florida Highway Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Ocala Field Office received a Customer Service Award from the Florida Department of Transportation in recognition of his participation in the No Zone public outreach program. The No Zone is a public awareness campaign to educate passenger car drivers on how to safely interact with large trucks. As part of this campaign, drivers sit behind the wheel of a big rig to see what the driver can see and more importantly what they can’t see.

Zanders does a tremendous amount of public outreach for the No Zone above his normal duties as a law enforcement sergeant and has been involved in promoting awareness to all motorists throughout the state for more than 15 years. He possesses a Commercial Driver License and drives the Department’s No Zone tractor trailer to outreach events to promote commercial motor vehicle safety. Zanders has exposed approximately 300,000 people to the No Zone safety message.
