Troopers Participate in Prom Promise Safety Event
On April 29, Troop F participated in a Prom Promise event at the Sarasota Military Academy. Approximately 700 junior and senior students were taught about the dangers and consequences of drunk driving as well as the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
Students were given field sobriety exercises and had the opportunity to drive a golf cart through an obstacle course while wearing Fatal Vision Goggles. These goggles simulate the effects of alcohol on your body such as lack of depth perception, hand-eye coordination, balance and reaction time. The rollover simulator was also used to show the consequences of not wearing a seatbelt in a rollover crash.
