Roadside Sobriety Safety Checkpoint
On December 11, 2009, the Panama City district conducted a Roadside Sobriety Safety Checkpoint. It was held on State Road 77 north of County Road 2300 with thirty-three officers participating in the checkpoint.
Troopers were joined by the FHP Auxiliary and DOT Motor Carrier Compliance officers to man the checkpoint, which was conducted over a four hour time period. The result of the checkpoint was two DUI arrests, thirty-four other arrests, thirty-one written warnings, and forty-eight faulty equipment notices.
This checkpoint was part of the December enforcement initiative to combat impaired driving. These checkpoints are helpful with raising the public awareness about impaired driving and removing impaired drivers from the road.
