All Pro Dad Makes Family Time First
Dads, kids – and some moms – took to the field for some bonding.
The Florida Highway Patrol, along with hundreds of other dads and their kids, trotted across the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice field for a football experience designed to bring fathers and kids closer.
All Pro Dad, which has local chapters, was founded in Tampa with the help of former Buccaneers coach Tony Dungy. Its goal: strengthen the bonds between fathers and children through events, a daily encouragement e-mail, and volunteer work.
Kids and dads – as well as a few moms – participated in football drills and other activities at the event, in addition to some emotional work. Organizers asked fathers to turn to the nearest person, introduce their kids, and share why they were proud of them. Other activities included encouraging dads to say, “I love you because …” and discussing role models.
FHP Trooper Dawn Tomlinson set up a tent and gave out child seat safety information with the help of some FHP Auxiliary troopers. FLHSMV also set up a booth to educate those in attendance about driver license issues, including adding their emergency contact information.
