FHPA Participates in Show and Tell Event
Children attending Jacksonville Heights Elementary School got an up close and personal look at some area law enforcement equipment. Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Trooper Chris Cecere displayed a fully marked Suburban from Troop G for the show and tell.
With lights and sirens he explained the importance of seatbelt usage and how the FHP uses a vehicle like that assisting in Presidential visits and other motorcade details. The FHP also uses the Suburban to transport the Roll-Over Simulator and Seatbelt Convincer, which are public safety demonstration devises used to raise awareness at numerous public events throughout the year.
Additionally The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office had two motorcycle units, a bloodhound and a patrol car on display. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority brought a bus the kids could walk through and Walt’s Wrecker service conducted a tow demonstration.
Hard to say how many future law enforcement officers or public transportation workers were recruited that day, but many of the children said they look forward to more show and tell events soon.
