Two Recovered Stolen Vehicles Led to 24 More

Trooper Lee stands by what is left of the recovered vehicles. When two stolen vehicles were discovered at an auto parts salvage yard Trooper Anthony Lee and Trooper Emmitt Paige conducted a follow up investigation. During the investigation they found that both vehicles recovered were brought in from Miami Dade County by the same wrecker company.

Trooper Lee spoke with employees from the salvage yard and they provided him with an invoice which detailed the vehicle identification number of each vehicle brought in and the amount of money that the driver was paid for each one. He then requested all invoices for 2009 for vehicles brought in by the wrecker company and began checking each vehicle identification number. Fourteen additional vehicles were located that had been reported stolen since January of 2009.

The Bureau of Investigations was notified and responded to the scene to take over the investigation. They requested any invoices dealing with this same wrecker company from July of 2008 through December of 2008. The second list revealed ten more stolen vehicles for a total of twenty six vehicles, all of the vehicles were stolen in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The wrecker company would pick up vehicles from the side of the road and deliver the vehicles to the salvage yard and present fraudulent paperwork and receive $275 per vehicle.

In all, 26 cases were solved, five vehicles were recovered and 21 vehicles had been salvaged. Good job Troopers Lee and Paige!
