Trooper Recognized as Mentor

Trooper MillsThe Polk county School board and Superintendent Gail McKenzie honored 100 public school volunteers in ceremonies at the Bartow Civic Center. Trooper Quentin Mills was one of six individuals who received special recognition for volunteer work at Garner Elementary. Even though Trooper Mills works full time for us at the Florida Highway Patrol, he always makes time when not working to talk and visit with students at Garner Elementary in Winter Haven.

Trooper Mills mentors students through the Youth Motivator Program. A school principal wrote, “… two or three days a week Trooper Mills can be seen somewhere on campus, mentoring and chatting with his students. He goes out of his way to find out how their day is going and displays compassion for others. Trooper Mills gets respect from the students because he respects those around him and shows how much he cares about them.” Good work & kudos, Trooper Mills.
