Trooper Arrests Turnpike Pedestrian
Trooper Christopher Sorvillo was on routine patrol of the Florida Turnpike when he came upon a young 18-year old man hitchhiking in the Port St. Lucie area. Trooper Sorvillo stopped to inform the young man that it was illegal to walk on a limited access highway like the Turnpike. The young man stated that he was trying to get to the Orlando area to visit some friends.
Trooper Sorvillo conducted a computer check on the identification provided by the young man and discovered he was wanted on a warrant from India River County for sexual battery on a minor child. He was arrested and transported to the St. Lucie County jail. He was also listed as a missing person by his family. They were notified that the young man was safe and sound at the local county jail.
