Treasure Coast Troopers Make Significant Seizures

Trooper GardnerTrooper TimmonsApril was a busy month for Trooper Scott Gardner (left) and Trooper Brian Timmons (right) of the Florida Highway Patrol, Ft. Pierce district. Both Troopers have made significant arrests along the Interstate 95 corridor leading to the seizure of drugs, currency and a vehicle.

On April 15, 2009, Trooper Timmons stopped a speeding vehicle in St. Lucie County which led to the arrest of a subject that was carrying multiple bottles of Oxycodone and Alprazolam. In addition, the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division was provided valuable intelligence from this arrest.

On April 18, 2009, Trooper Gardner stopped a vehicle that was following another vehicle too closely in Indian River County. During this traffic stop Trooper Gardner noticed that the driver was extremely nervous. Trooper Gardner then requested the assistance of Sebastian Police Officer Kyzer with his K-9 Rosco. The K-9 alerted to the vehicle where further investigation revealed 24 one pound packages of marijuana. In addition, three hundred sixty three dollars and the defendant’s vehicle were seized.

Trooper Gardner, Officer Kyzer and K9 RoscoOn April 25, 2009, Trooper Timmons stopped a speeding truck in St. Lucie County. While approaching the driver, Trooper Timmons detected the odor of burnt marijuana. A sobriety task was administered and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. Trooper Timmons then requested the assistance of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted to the exterior of the truck. A subsequent search revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $6,050 in currency.
