Speeding Violation Leads to Contraband Seizure

NarcOn September 12, 2009, Trooper Joel Clark stopped a vehicle for excessive speed on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County. The driver stated they were coming from Bradenton and heading to Brownsville, TX and that he had $5,000 in U.S. Currency on him.

Both the driver and passenger stories were different and Trooper Clark requested Trooper Dusty Arnold and his K9 partner Narc to respond. K9 Narc was deployed and alerted to the left rear door.

K9 Narc was placed inside the vehicle and alerted to the front passengers seat. A search of the vehicle revealed one gram of marijuana under the passenger seat. A search behind the back seat revealed $16,950 inside the tire jack compartment. DEA was contacted for the seizure of the currency.

The total amount of US Currency seized was $23,073. The passenger was charged with possession of marijuana and transported to the Gadsden County Jail.
