FHP Says Don’t Hang Out in the No Zone
On September 21, 2009, the Florida Highway Patrol partnered with Publix Supermarkets and the Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Compliance to present the No Zone program to students at Palmetto Ridge High School.
The presentation began with classroom instruction on the dangers of driving in the blind spots, the correct way to pass and cautioned students about tractor trailers in the process of turning. The class was taken outside and given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a tractor trailer and see what the driver sees.
Several vehicles were parked around the tractor trailer in the No Zone and students could see that none of the vehicles appeared in the mirrors.
