FHP Gets Involved

Trooper WoodTrooper TuckerOn March 29, 2009, in Escambia County, the Tallahassee Regional Communications Center (TRCC) contacted Trooper Brian Wood regarding a BOLO (Be on the lookout) on a possible rape and kidnapping suspect.

Trooper Wood soon spotted a vehicle matching the BOLO information. When he tried to conduct a traffic stop to determine if it was the suspect’s vehicle, the vehicle fled. Trooper Wood lost the vehicle for awhile and gave last direction of travel to TRCC to pass along to the Sheriff’s Office.

Eventually Trooper Wood was advised the vehicle was seen driving into the area of Bailey Middle School off Bauer Rd. near Sorrento Rd. Trooper Wood, along with Trooper Josh Tucker, searched the area and observed the suspect fleeing on foot into the wooded area behind the school and jumping a fence. A perimeter was set up with additional FHP personnel and Escambia Co. Sheriff’s Office Units.

With assistance from the Santa Rosa Co. Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, the perimeter was successful in keeping the suspect contained. Subsequent K9 track and search resulted in the suspect’s apprehension and arrest. Other FHP personnel involved: Sgt. Darren Williamson, Sgt. Terry McCormick, Cpl. Mike Tucker and Trooper Pete Patroni.
