FHP Family Participates in ALS Fund Raiser
In May of this year, Samantha Kraus, wife of Sergeant Larry Kraus and daughter-in-law of Corporal Richard Kraus, participated in a fund raising event to raise money for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research; this disease is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Corporal Kraus has been stricken with the disease and he is currently on medical leave from FHP. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. This disease in its later stages can lead to paralysis.
At this time there is no known cure or treatment that halts or reverses the diseases’ devastating effects on the body.
Samantha and her team, with the help of many donations from the FHP family, were able to raise $4,146.01 to help fight this disease.
Please keep the Kraus family in your prayers! Richard, we miss you here in Troop C!!!
