FHP Corporal Receives LEO of the Year Award
Cpl. Jefferson Brock recently received the Polk Police Chief’s Association award for Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Cpl. Brock received the award for his outstanding actions during 2008 in the following incidents:
January – Cpl. Brock responded to Interstate-4 when 70 vehicles collided in multiple crashes as a result of fog, smoke and careless driving. Five motorists died as a result of the crashes. Cpl. Brock’s previous Traffic Homicide Investigation experience greatly assisted active THI members in dealing with the situation as he worked six crashes personally and helped with THI work specifically.
August – Cpl. Brock came upon a shooting victim near Haines City. He secured the scene and provided first aid to the victim, then assisted Haines City with the investigation.
Cpl. Brock, a first responder instructor in addition to his other duties, instructed Troop members as they completed their required first responder updates.
Actively patrols Florida’s highways – seized many vehicles due to felony charges and routinely made DUI arrests
