Trooper Helps Rescue Crash Victim
A twenty year old female is lucky to be alive after she drove her car off the road and struck a concrete bridge support. Her vehicle sustained severe front end damage that trapped her inside the vehicle. Then, her car caught on fire.
Thankfully, Trooper Tony Lee and Ft. Lauderdale Police Detective Brian Shaeffer arrived at the crash scene and immediately used their fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire. The fire continued to spread. Suddenly, Road Ranger Timothy Chatigny and Deputy Matt Gorman arrived with extra fire extinguishers. They attempted to contain the fire and keep the flames away from the victim.
After using eight fire extinguishers, the fire was still burning when Ft. Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived. Finally, they were able to put the fire out. It still took twenty minutes to pull the victim from the vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, along with smoke inhalation, but will survive thanks to the quick actions of people from four different agencies.
