FHP’s Delivery Team

Trooper DavidsonTrooper WellsTrooper HorneTrooper TroffoThe Polk County Presidents of the Roundtable Organization recently recognized a number of law enforcement and fire rescue personnel in Polk County for their role in heroic events in the community.

What began as a traffic stop involving just two people in the car, ended up with three people in the car before it was all over. One of those people just happened to be born during the traffic stop!

It all began when Trooper Chris Davidson stopped a driver for speeding on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County. When he approached the vehicle, the driver began yelling, “Baby!” and pointed to the female passenger who was already in labor.

Trooper Davidson immediately requested EMS to respond to the scene. Soon, Troopers Chris Wells, Frank Troffo, and Anthony Horne arrived. Trooper Troffo assisted with Spanish translation while Troopers Wells and Horne provided lights and secured the area from passing motorists. Trooper Davidson and the paramedics helped the mother deliver a baby girl right in the front seat of the car.

Afterwards, the newborn and proud parents were transported to a local hospital where everyone was reported to be in great condition!
