FHP Sergeant Apprehends Dangerous Felon
On July 22, 2008, Sgt. Rickey Glover was flagged down by two pedestrians. They had encounterd a male subject and got into an argument that escalated into a knife fight resulting in injury. Bystanders interrupted the fight and the knife wielder fled the scene.
The victims identified the suspect and Sgt. Glover alerted the Tampa Bay Regional Communications Center. He then began searching for the suspect and soon encountered him on another street. Sgt. Glover apprehended him at gunpoint for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Within minutes Hillsborough County deputies and other FHP personnel arrived on-scene to help secure the suspect and locate the knife which had been discarded while he was fleeing the scene. He was arrested, charged and taken to the county jail to await trial; the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
