FHP Prepares Students for Safe Homecoming

="Hudson="ReadyHudson, Fla. – On Nov. 12, 2008, Troop C’s Sergeant Steve Gaskins, Public Affairs Officer, Trooper Reggie Edwards, Occupant Protection Specialist, and Corporal Doug Guy helped out Hudson High School with a special safety event to help students celebrate a safe homecoming. Each spoke to six different high school classes throughout the day.

The classes were comprised of ninth-12th graders who were just learning to drive, getting their learner permits and driver licenses, or who had been driving for a few years. Troopers spoke directly to the students impressing upon them the seriousness of safety behind the wheel and the responsibilities that come with driving on Florida’s roadways.

For greater effect, troopers used FHP’s popular rollover simulator, seatbelt convincer and Fatal Vision goggles to illustrate the results of unsafe driving practices.
