Senior Clerk’s Son Dedicates Award to Fallen Trooper
Recently, Lane Wyatt Liberty, son of Kristie Liberty, a Senior Clerk for the Fort Myers Regional Communication Center in Troop F, was presented with a very special award. Lane received a Do the Right Thing Award from Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott for his unselfish actions during a fund-raising event at his school. Lane was involved in a drive to sell the most dinners and desserts to win the grand prize of a complete holiday dinner.
Lane won the prize as a result of his efforts to sell the most. However, instead of keeping the meal for himself, Lane unselfishly donated the dinner to a soup kitchen in the Fort Myers area to feed the less fortunate, making the holidays better for others.

The story does not end there. After Lane was presented with his award, he dedicated it to the family of FHP Sergeant Nick Sottile, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year. In his heartwarming speech, Lane stated that he wanted his award presented on his behalf and on behalf of his extended family at the Florida Highway Patrol, which includes Captain Terry Davis, Sgt. Dwayne Cooper, Sgt. Dan Hinton, Sgt. James McPherson, and his uncle, Ft. Myers Regional Communications Center Duty Officer Rob Liberty.
