Johnson Named Troop Commander
On March 16, 2007, Colonel Chris Knight promoted Captain Eddie L. Johnson, Jr., to the rank of Major, effective June 1, 2007. Major Johnson, who will serve as the new Troop Commander for Troop A, was presented with his Major credentials by Colonel Knight, Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp and Executive Director Electra Bustle. Major Johnson’s family stood by his side to show their support, along with his Troop F family. Major Johnson received a standing ovation, after which he stated, “This promotion is due to the dedicated people who made my job easier in Troop F.”

Major Johnson has been a member of the Florida Highway Patrol since May 1, 1978, and has served in various field operations positions in Tampa, Brooksville, Cross City, and Fort Myers. He most recently served as District Commander in Fort Myers since December 15, 1994. He is a graduate of Florida State University and the FBI’s National Academy.
