FHP Salutes Long Serving Member
Lt. Colonel Ken Howes has been a member of the Florida Highway Patrol since 1976, a graduate of the 51st Academy Recruit School Class. He is currently the Patrol’s Deputy Director of Law Enforcement Support Services, responsible for Public Affairs, Technology/Communications, Contraband Interdiction, Traffic Homicide, Auxiliary and Reserves, Regional Communication Centers and the Lt. Governor’s Security Detail. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Florida Highway Patrol’s Chief spokesman for 10 years.
Lt. Colonel Howes began his career with the FHP in Melbourne where he served from 1976 until 1984. He was also stationed in Stuart and Palatka before moving to General Headquarters in Tallahassee in 1993. He earned a Bachelor of Public Administration degree from Barry University in 1999. We would like to thank LTC Howes for his 30+ years of service to the people of Florida. We wish him and his wife, Gail, all the best.
