FHP Leads Miami’s MLK Parade
The Florida Highway Patrol, along with the Miami Police Department, led the 2006 Martin Luther King Day Parade in Miami. Thousands of people lined NW 54th Street to witness one of our nation’s largest MLK Day parades.
Pictured left, Troop E’s color guard led the parade right, Major David McCarter led his troop’s delegation in Miami’s Martin Luther King Day Parade and (bottom left) Sgt. James Durden (driver) and Major David McCarter followed the color guard in FHP’s vintage Ford.
In addition, Trooper A. J. Jackson drove one of the Patrol’s Mercury Marauders followed by Troopers Mary Jackson and Tammy Broughton in one of the Occupant Protection Team’s Chevy Tahoes. The parade featured marching bands, local churches, community organizations, and local politicians paying respect to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
