FHP & Auxiliary Promote Healthy Living

FHPA with students at the school. The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, under the direction of Colonel Chris Knight, Auxiliary Colonel Steve Sheffer, and Lt. Colonel Ken Howes, Statewide Auxiliary Coordinator, once again provided law enforcement security to the various counties, state agencies, non-profits and community organizations throughout Florida for the third year of Step Up, Florida – On Our Way To Healthy Living!, a statewide campaign held to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Agencies and counties throughout Florida joined together to highlight the variety of activities Florida offers for physical well-being.

Step Up, Florida! provides communities with the chance to showcase the many options people have available for keeping fit, such as visiting parks and beaches, enjoying Florida’s many trails, biking, skating, walking or jogging. Participants along the four routes developed for the event passed a special fitness flag from county to county. The routes met in Duval County for a final celebration to end the campaign.

The Florida Highway Patrol would like to recognize all of the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary who helped make the 2006 Step Up, Florida! event a success.
