Troopers Cook, Carrico, and Lieb with Lt. Howze. On January 21st, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) hosted an Awards Dinner to recognize law enforcement officers with the highest DUI arrests in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Three troopers from the Okaloosa District were recognized for their enforcement efforts: Troopers Robert Cook, Kelly Carrico, and John Lieb. All officers in attendance participated in a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of DUI-related crashes in 2004, preceding the dinner.

Captain Parkton, FHP Okaloosa District Commander, was the guest speaker. He spoke about the evolution of DUI penalties in Florida, the importance of enforcement, and the personal experience of his wife Mindy, who was the victim of a DUI crash as a child. Congratulations to our honored troopers!

An interesting note: On the way home from the MADD event, our three troopers made 5 separate DUI arrests.
