Trooper Pulls Snake From Car
While patrolling I-4 in Hillsborough County on a recent morning, Tampa District Corporal Toni Shields stopped to assist a stranded motorist of what appeared to be a disabled vehicle. Cpl. Shields quickly learned that the problem with the late model Chevrolet sedan was not mechanical in nature per se, but from nature for sure. The driver explained that while sitting in stop and go rush hour traffic, a long black snake slithered across her leg and into the car’s air conditioning vent, occasionally peering out at the frantic driver. Luckily, the driver was able to safely pull her car over. She was greatly relieved to see an FHP patrol car.
Cpl. Shields, not showing her distaste for cold-blooded creatures, waited patiently for the reptile to appear, and single handedly captured the snake. The grateful motorist was able to continue on her way to work, the unharmed snake was returned to the wild, and Cpl. Shields cleared the call with another one for the books–all in a day’s work!
