Traffic Stop Nets Drug Dealer

CIP LOGOTroopers Steve Varnell and Bob Lanese made a traffic stop on I-75 in Hillsborough County recently, stopping a driver for excessive speed. During the course of interviewing the driver and passenger, K-9 Draco sniffed the vehicle and alerted the troopers to the presence of drugs.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded four pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms, a 9mm firearm, 6 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Both the driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County jail on drug and firearm violations. Troop C’s Contraband Interdiction Program (CIP) teams and K-9’s continue to work hard removing contraband and criminals from Florida’s highways.
