Roger Dean Stadium Hosts Heroes Night

Corporal Strickland and Trooper Rich with the family of deceased Trooper Smith at the baseball stadium.As the 2005 baseball season approaches, the Florida Highway Patrol would like to thank Roger Dean Stadium for recently honoring law enforcement personnel with a Heroes Night at the St. Lucie Mets vs. Palm Beach Cardinals baseball game in Jupiter.

Prior to the start of the game, several law enforcement displays were set up for the public all around the stadium. FHP’s Troop L (Lantana district) was able to showcase its aggressive driving vehicles at the main entrance into the stadium.

Todd and Taylor throwing out the first pitch. Todd and Taylor meeting the players.On the field, a special presentation was awarded to Taylor and Todd Smith, whose father Trooper Robbie Smith was killed in the line of duty on July 26, 1997, by a drunk driver in Miami.

Together, the Taylor kids got to throw out the first pitch of the game and meet players from both teams. FHP thanks Roger Dean Stadium for remembering those who gave everything to make their communities safer.
