Remembering A Fallen Hero

The new  sign commemorating the park as the 'Cpl. Mark T. Zook' parkOn June 11, 2005 a special tribute took place in Port Saint Lucie, Florida for Marine Corporal Ian T. Zook, 24, who was killed in Iraq on October 12, 2004. Ian Zook’s father, FHP Corporal Mark Zook, works in the Troop L – Ft. Pierce district.

Marine color guard and FHP color guard standing by as  Cpl. and Ms. Zook unveil new the Park Sign.Port Saint Lucie city officials recently named a local city park in memory of fallen hero “Corporal Ian T. Zook Park.” During the ceremony, the Florida Highway Patrol color guard, along with numerous troopers, stood silently as a Marine color guard raised an American Flag over the park.

Family, former classmates and neighbors wept as tales of Ian Zook, who was a devoted Christian and valedictorian of his high school class. During the ceremony, Marine Lt. Colonel Sharon Jacko stated, “This will be a place to honor, remember and celebrate Corporal Ian Zook’s life.”
