Three Troop B Felony and Canine Handler Teams recently assisted the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Department with an unannounced vehicle “canine walk around” search in the parking lot of the Suwannee County High School. The unannounced inspections are completed at the request of the Suwannee County High School Administration in an attempt to deter students from bringing illegal drugs onto school property for distribution or consumption.

A total of 1,078 student lockers were checked by the three felony and canine handler teams. As a result, the K-9s produced 39 positive responses to the possible presence of illegal drugs within the lockers. A subsequent search found two soda cans with drug residue.

Troop B Felony and Canine Handler teams conducted a “walk around” of 154 vehicles in the parking lot of Suwannee High School. The K-9s had 10 positive responses to the possible presence of illegal drugs.
