FHPA Assists at PGA Tournament

This Major professional golf championship is the richest event and has the strongest field of the year for the PGA. The Florida Highway Patrol and FHPA have been handling traffic details at the tournament since 1982, when it moved to its permanent home at the TPC at Sawgrass.

Lieutenant Rick McIntyre, who started overseeing the traffic detail while serving as a District Lieutenant in St. Augustine, is now in charge of the tournament security, and camps out on the course the entire week. Heavy rain, which created havoc with the tournament this year, necessitated an additional activity for those handling traffic duties–pushing cars out of the mud in the PGA Tournament parking lots.
