Troopers Arrest ID Fraud Suspect
After learning that retired FHP Lt. Larry Parrish had become the victim of identity theft, Sgt. John Williams (shown left) and Lt. William Shiver (shown right) of the FHP Bureau of Investigation’s began to investigate. The search led to the revelation of numerous victims and ultimately resulted in an arrest in Polk County on March 11, 2004. Charged with numerous counts of ID theft, forgery, and petit theft, the suspect is being held in the Polk County Jail on $100,000.00 bond.
The arrest was a topic of interest for the Lakeland Ledger and Bay News 9 who routinely warn consumers about the dangers of Identity theft. As a result of the coverage regarding this case, the FHP was able to clear numerous other cases for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Lakeland Police Department. This was another example of how easy it is to have your identity, credit, and good named ruined quickly.
