Over 140 FHP troopers responded to assist with the recovery and relief efforts in the St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and Palm Beach County areas. Troopers were on hand to enforce curfews, protect property, control traffic, and escort fuel trucks.
In addition, FHP also had the distinguished honor of escorting President George W. Bush in his Presidential Motorcade while he visited the Ft. Pierce area. Captain Brad Pelton, Lt. Roger Reyes, and Lt. Robert Purser assisted in the motorcade.

American Red Cross Disaster Relief brings meals to Troopers in Broward.
Troop L troopers escort a tanker from Port Everglades in Ft Lauderdale loaded with gasoline for the St Lucie County Sheriff’s Department. The Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee asked the Florida Highway Patrol to escort gasoline shipments to gas dealers and government depots throughout eastern Florida in anticipation of the arrival of hurricane Frances.
