Fun Filled Safety Day for the FHPA

Tampa FHPA Safety Day DisplayThe Tampa FHP Auxiliary represented the FHP at the 10th annual Lupton’s Foster Family Picnic in South Hillsborough County on April 4, 2004. Ralph Lupton is a successful businessman in the community who sponsors the annual event aimed at giving foster children and their families a fun day on his 400 acre preserve. Ralph and his wife, Nancy, provide food, games, entertainment, and an opportunity for children and teens to meet law enforcement officers on a positive note in hopes to guide these kids in the right direction. Many of the children are in state guarded custody and a day to meet a Trooper and see the FHP’s rollover simulator is a treat!

The audience of over 700 enjoyed touring the Troop C mobile multi purpose unit that houses an Intoxilyzer, computer, and other necessary tools used at checkpoints, wolf packs, and large scale scene incidents. But the hit of the day was the FHP rollover simulator that slung the unbuckled dummies across the crowd and drove the FHP’s message of seat belt safety home!
